Where's Huffy?
I've been less than prolific lately, and I apologize. I can't really explain why other than to say that I definitely have more to talk (complain?) about when I'm unhappy. So I guess no news is good news, at least from my perspective.
The latest:
- I'm back at school, and I'll be there for another couple of weeks. Then I'll have a three-week break, then I'll have another three-week class and I'm done. These last two classes aren't massage classes -- I'm completely done with those -- they're general-education courses that I have to (re)take because the school wouldn't or couldn't accept the credit from when I took them in college. I'm in a 1000-level business course now -- which is actually good review for when I'm in business for myself at some point -- and the other class is a 1000-level humanities class. Then I'm done done done.
- I'm working about three days a week at The Office, which I'm shocked to admit that I enjoy. I'm completely removed from the politicking, morale-killing, brown-nosing and general ridiculousness that you encounter at any large workplace. I'm welcome, but not obligated, to attend staff meetings. On work nights, I come in, get my orders, do my work and leave without any dirt on my shoulder. My opinion of my job is a far cry from what it was when I worked full-time.
- As far as massage work, I worked an independent-contractor gig doing chair massages at the convention center about six weeks ago. I hadn't worked that hard since working in food service at Disney my first year of college. The massage gig was good money, but my feet killed after my shift, and my wrists were dying. I'll do it again, though -- I need the contacts and experience.
- I'm going out of town for the first time in a long time the first weekend of November, to the annual Head of the Chattahoochee regatta. It's moved to Chattanooga for the first time, and I'm looking forward to racing and partying with the team. I hear Chattanooga was once a depressed city that's recently gone through a dramatic revitalization. It's supposed to be beautiful now, so I hope to get in some sightseeing.
- World of Warcraft was taking up a good chunk of my free nights, but the game-maker, Blizzard, recently issued a patch (upgrade) that has prooved too much for my G3 iMac, a k a TRS-80. It hasn't been able to run the game since Blizzard patched earlier this week, so I haven't been able to play. Shockingly, I've been much more productive on the home front. :)
That's it for now.
