If you don't already know, I've gone part time at work. I'll go into more detail later. But I just couldn't attend school 30 hours a week, work 40 and still have time to sleep and study. I've had to quit rowing, at least full time. I'm pretty much just on call and can row one day a week, assuming I'm not too busy. I miss it greatly and already feel as though my body is turning to dough. But it was the most expendable of my obligations. I'm still coaching the novice rowers at Winter Park High, but only one day a week. As hard as it is to get up at 7 a.m. on Saturday mornings, I don't want to close the door completely on that option, and it keeps me around crew.
I love school. It hasn't gotten difficult yet, but anatomy is coming up in November. I feel like this career has so many more options. It's all up to me what I want to do and where I want to take it. I don't feel trapped any more. In debt to the government for the first time in my life, yeah. But if things don't work out, it's not the end of the world. I'm still young enough -- not that you have to be young to make big changes in your life -- to backtrack if I have to. Not to be too quixotic, but to me, a career in massage therapy has purpose. You're helping someone feel better physically and mentally. I don't expect to make the same amount of money doing bodywork than I was (at least any time soon, though I hope to eventually). But I know I'll get more gratification from it than putting together a page based solely on what industry insiders might think and will just be lining somebody's birdcage the next day.
It's weird how I used to hate school when I was in college. I despised it and slept through my senior year, too exhausted mentally (and physically, since I was also working 35 hours a week managing a busy ice cream store) to drag my ass to class. But when you've been away from it for so long -- and have matured since then -- you appreciate it that much more.

Ordered a massage table last night, and they ship next day UPS, so I should have it within the next couple of days! I'll try to remember to bring it with me when I come down there.
